Welcome to Soulmate (“we,” “us,” “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and creating a safe, trusted community. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
- Information We Collect
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
- a) Information You Provide Directly:
- Account & Profile Information: When you register, you provide us with your name, nickname, email address, date of birth, city, country, preferred language, religion, job, relationship status, and relationship goals.
- Photos & Verification Data: To ensure the safety of our community, we require you to upload profile photos and a verification selfie. We use this data to verify your identity and prevent fraudulent accounts.
- Interests and Preferences: You may choose to provide information about your hobbies, habits, dislikes, and sports preferences.
- Emergency Contacts: If you opt-in to our Safety Check Timer or SOS features, you may provide us with the names and phone numbers of up to three emergency contacts.
- Communications: We collect the content of messages you send and receive through the Service, as well as your interactions with our Love AI and Coach AI features.
- b) Information from Third Parties:
- Social Login: If you choose to sign up using a third-party service (Google, Facebook, or Apple), we receive information from that service, such as your public profile information, email address, and name.
- Spotify & Instagram Integration: If you connect your Spotify or Instagram accounts, we will receive information in accordance with their API terms, such as your recent media from Instagram and your top tracks or selected “Anthem” from Spotify.
- c) Information Collected Automatically:
- Location Data (GPS): With your explicit permission, we collect your precise geolocation to show you potential matches nearby and for our safety features. You can disable location services through your device settings, but this will limit the functionality of the app.
- Usage Data: We collect information about your activity on the Service, such as which profiles you view, like, super like, or dismiss.
- How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for various purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain Our Service: To create and manage your account, display your profile, and enable you to connect with other users.
- For Safety and Security:
- Verification: We use your selfie and profile photos with Microsoft Azure Face API to verify your identity and help prevent catfishing.
- Content Moderation: We use Microsoft Azure Vision API and Google Perspective API to scan photos and messages for explicit or harmful content to maintain a safe community.
- SOS & Safety Check Timer: We use your location and emergency contacts with Twilio to send SMS alerts on your behalf when you trigger the SOS feature or when a Safety Check Timer expires.
- To Improve and Personalize the Service:
- Matchmaking: We use your profile information, preferences, and location to suggest potential matches, including for the “Top Picks” and “Explorer” features.
- AI Features: We use your questions and interactions with our Love AI and Coach AI features, powered by Google’s Gemini, to provide you with relationship advice and coaching.
- To Enable Third-Party Features: We use data from Spotify and Instagram to display your anthem and recent photos on your profile.
- To Provide Customer Support: To respond to your requests and resolve issues.
- How We Share Your Information
Your privacy is paramount. We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information with the following third-party service providers to operate our Service:
- Google: For cloud hosting (Firebase), database storage (Firestore), analytics, AI features (Gemini), maps, and advertising (AdMob).
- Microsoft: For identity verification (Azure Face API) and content moderation (Azure Vision API).
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram): To facilitate login and profile integration.
- Apple: To facilitate login on iOS devices.
- Spotify: To facilitate profile integration.
- Twilio: To send SMS messages for our SOS and Safety Check Timer features.
- RevenueCat: To process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions.
We only share the minimum information necessary for these services to function.
- Data Security and Retention
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. All data is stored on secure cloud servers provided by Google Firebase.
In compliance with GDPR principles, we have a data retention policy. Specifically, sensitive data generated by our safety features, such as records in our SOS_Alerts collection, are automatically deleted from our servers after a period of 90 days using Firebase’s Time-to-Live (TTL) policies.
- Your Rights and Choices
You have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You can manage most of your information directly through the app’s Profile and Settings screens. For deletion requests or other inquiries, please contact us.
